The Scopas Tang x Yellow Tang Hybrid ( Zebrasoma scopas x flavescens) is a new hybrid tang that has come into the saltwater hobby and is famous for its color, shape and propensity to eat nuisance hair algae in the aquarium. It exhibits a long snout that enables the tangs to reach filamentous algae in the aquarium which are out of reach for other Acanthurids and surgeonfish. This hybrid Tang show somewhat different body marking than that of both the the Yellow Tang and the Scopas Tang. It has a brilliant yellow color throughout the body with a dark mark towards the beggining f their tail fin aong with a dark brown eye. These Tangs are easy to keep and care, especially in a reef aquarium. They should be fed with freeze-dried algae sheet with a lettuce clip so it can eat throughout the day. Other food include substantial amount of plant material; including microalgae, broccoli, spinach, Spirulina flake food and dried algae sheets and some meaty preparations for a continued good health. This Tang just like any other tang is an aggressive fish towards other similar shaped fish, especially surgeonfish. It can be kept in groups or in pairs only in a large aquarium.
 
Tank Requirements for the Hybrid Scopas X Yellow Tang
To ensure the well-being of your Hybrid Tang, provide a tank of at least 120 gallons (approximately 500 liters) to accommodate its active swimming nature. Maintaining stable water conditions, including a pH level of 8.1 to 8.4, a salinity level of 1.020-1.025, and a temperature range of 74-82°F (23-28°C), is essential. Adequate water flow, the use of a protein skimmer, and regular water changes are crucial for maintaining excellent water quality.
